Elijah Aike has been breaking through the scene recently with his unique sounds and melodies. He returned with a new single 'Don't wanna go' back in May followed by 'Link Up' 2 months and 1 day later. This is his first drop since his album release 'One More Floor' which also features my personal favourite track from him titled, 'Shine-'. Elijah's unique sound has kept us keen to hear more, his infusion of Kanye-inspired autotune, intricate rhymes and synth-heavy production makes for a final product that can be almost cinematic.
Ever since Elijah hit our radar back in December we have been keen to see what he will be releasing next.
'Don't wanna go' is the first single of many throughout this year that Elijah shall be releasing and it doesn't disappoint, this is the first time Elijah has released a track on a drill beat and his flow and sound really suits it to the core. The whole track has a fresh vibe that Aike has executed perfectly blending the production with loose hooks and melodies.
'Link up' begins with Elijah's harrowing echo as he chants the hook acapella. The energy builds as he introduces high hats and the beat comes in, nestling his own vocals amongst the backing vocals to keep the beat flowing. At its peak, this feels like something more trap style. I especially like how he holds the long note and lets them drag on throughout to give the production that bit more depth.
Elijah's ability to show off a huge range of sounds without sacrificing his originality is exactly why we hold such high expectations for his upcoming project that he's told us is set to drop sometime next year. In the meantime, we can confirm his next single titled 'Take Control Of The Night' is set to drop in September so make sure you're ready for that too. I'm sure we will be hearing a lot more of his eccentric music dropping through very soon.
We'll be covering Elijah's work thoroughly this year and we are excited to hear the vibes yet to be released. More to follow very soon, until then go check out 'Don't Wanna Go' and 'Link Up' in our playlist.
